Watching fork reversal enzymes in action
Location: Hasan Yardimci Lab, London
Application Deadline: 6 February 2025, 11:59 GMT
Hours: 36 per week (full-time)
About the Project
This summer student position focuses on studying DNA replication mechanisms, specifically how cells respond to replication stress. The project aims to understand the role of SMARCAL1, a translocase involved in replication fork reversal, using single-molecule imaging techniques. Key tasks include:
- Protein expression in insect cells
- Protein purification
- Fluorescence microscopy to visualize SMARCAL1 activity
Who Should Apply?
Ideal for students in biomedical sciences (e.g., biochemistry), with an interest in wet lab research.
