Description
As a Customs Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective implementation of customs laws and regulations to facilitate legitimate trade while preventing illegal activities. Responsibilities
- Border Control: Monitor and control the movement of goods and persons across the nation's borders to prevent illegal activities such as smuggling.
- Documentation: Verify and process customs declarations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Inspections: Conduct inspections of cargo, vehicles, and persons to detect and prevent the entry of prohibited or undeclared items.
- Enforcement: Enforce customs laws and regulations, taking appropriate action against individuals or entities involved in illegal trade practices.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other government agencies, law enforcement, and international organizations to enhance border security and trade facilitation.
- Customer Service: Provide assistance and information to the public, importers, and exporters regarding customs procedures and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Nigerian citizenship.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness and the ability to pass a rigorous training program.
- Knowledge of customs laws, international trade, and relevant regulations.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
