Description

NIMASA (Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency) is currently seeking qualified candidates to join our dynamic team as Maritime Safety and Security Officers. As a Maritime Safety and Security Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria's maritime environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the country's maritime safety initiatives and make a positive impact on the industry.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct Safety Inspections: Perform regular safety inspections on vessels, offshore platforms, and maritime facilities to ensure compliance with national and international safety regulations.
  • Security Surveillance: Monitor maritime activities and conduct risk assessments to identify potential security threats. Implement measures to enhance the security of maritime assets.
  • Emergency Response: Coordinate and respond to maritime emergencies, including accidents, oil spills, and security incidents. Work closely with relevant agencies to mitigate risks and ensure timely and effective response.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Enforce maritime safety and security regulations, ensuring that all stakeholders adhere to prescribed standards. Investigate and report violations, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other regulatory bodies, law enforcement agencies, and international organizations to enhance maritime safety and security cooperation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications in maritime safety and security.
  • Proven experience in maritime safety, security, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of national and international maritime safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging maritime environment.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant software and tools for safety and security monitoring.
