The African Union Commission (AUC) is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Program Officer based in Nigeria. As a Program Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting and implementing the African Union's initiatives and programs in Nigeria. This position requires a dynamic individual with a strong background in program management, stakeholder engagement, and a commitment to advancing the goals of the African Union.

Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of assigned programs and projects in Nigeria, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with governmental bodies, non-governmental organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to enhance collaboration and promote the success of AU initiatives.
  • Capacity Building: Work to strengthen the capacity of local partners and institutions to ensure the sustainability of AU programs in Nigeria.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare comprehensive reports on program activities, outcomes, and lessons learned for internal and external dissemination.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop and implement effective monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Resource Mobilization: Collaborate with relevant partners to identify funding opportunities, prepare proposals, and contribute to resource mobilization efforts.
Qualifications
  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
  • Experience: At least five years of progressive experience in program management, preferably in an international or development organization. Experience working in Nigeria is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
    • Proficient in relevant computer applications.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of French is an asset.
