About the CM Punjab Hi-Tech Farm Mechanization Financing Program
The Government of Punjab’s Hi-Tech Farm Mechanization Financing Program provides interest-free bank financing for approved high-tech agricultural machinery. The official Agriculture Department page states that eligible farmers, service providers and entrepreneurs in Punjab can seek financing of up to PKR 30 million to adopt modern machinery, improve productivity and reduce losses caused by delayed or inefficient harvesting, threshing and crop handling.
The programme uses bank financing while the Government of Punjab bears the interest cost. It is designed for applicants who need approved agricultural machinery and can meet the programme’s equity, credit and repayment conditions.
Maximum Financing and Applicant Contribution
The maximum loan limit is PKR 30 million. Applicants are required to contribute at least 20% of the machinery cost as their own equity. After due diligence, the financing bank may approve or reject the application. Where a loan is approved, the applicant deposits the required equity and the financed amount is provided for the approved machinery purchase under the programme’s process.
The Punjab Portal describes the loan as interest-free financing through Bank of Punjab. The bank-financed amount is repaid through 20 equal quarterly instalments over five years, with the Government of Punjab bearing the interest cost. The programme information also lists a six-month grace period.
Who Can Apply
The scheme is open to qualifying farmers, service providers and entrepreneurs who are residents of Punjab Province. Applicants must be between 21 and 65 years old and hold a valid CNIC together with a mobile number registered in their own name.
Different applicant categories have additional requirements. An entrepreneur must hold a valid NTN. A farmer must own at least five acres of land. A service provider must be registered with the Agriculture Department’s Field Wing.
Financial and Credit Requirements
Applicants need a satisfactory credit assessment and a clean credit history with no overdue loans. The financing institution will assess the applicant’s ability to repay quarterly instalments. Only one application is allowed per individual or business, and an eligible applicant can receive the programme subsidy once during the project period.
The applicant must also be willing and able to deposit the minimum 20% equity contribution upfront. The machinery remains subject to financing and security conditions until repayment is complete.
Important Conditions
Beneficiaries are not permitted to sell or transfer the financed machinery for five years or until the financed amount has been fully repaid, according to the programme conditions. Applicants must be willing to attend training or orientation on the use and maintenance of the machinery and accept periodic monitoring or inspection by Agriculture Department and bank officials.
Security requirements include the machinery being hypothecated to the financing bank until full repayment, a personal guarantee, comprehensive insurance at the beneficiary’s cost and verification of relevant land or collateral records. Applicants should review the exact security requirements for their category before applying.
Fees
The official programme information lists an initial application processing fee of PKR 5,000. Other bank charges may apply according to the bank’s policy, and late-payment charges may be recovered where instalments are not paid on time.
How to Apply
Applications are submitted online through the official CM High-Tech portal. The process begins with registration using CNIC and mobile details and selection of the applicant category: Farmer, Service Provider or Entrepreneur. Applicants then complete the application, select the required approved machinery and upload the requested documents.
Before submitting, review all personal, financial, land or business information for accuracy. The application is then assessed under the programme and financing bank’s requirements. Because eligibility differs by applicant type, use the official portal and Agriculture Department guidance as the final reference for documents, machinery options and financing conditions.
